We will visit the places where the Blaeu family produced and sold their globes, maps, and atlases, ever since father Willem Blaeu set up shop at Damrak 46 in 1605.

We will see the location where the height reference (Normaal) Amsterdams Peyl was introduced by Mayor Hudde at the Eenhoornsluis water lock in 1684.

I will tell you stories about the influence of science and mathematics on life, business, and technology in those tumultuous years. From the birth of the Dutch East India Company (V.O.C.) to the important contributions of natural philosopher and mathematician Descartes.
