Welcome to Academic Core Concepts. As a mature student who entered academia in my 40's i had to suddenly try & work my way through all the basics again & my school days were way behind me. What i experienced was that i wasn't alone & those coming from high school & college were experiencing the exact same problems
The huge gap that I identified is that no one really knows how to do Academic reading, writing, how to research take appropriate notes & create essay plans, & then then finally the dreaded referencing!! Trust me I've been there & have felt your pain
I speak from a place of experience having gained my Ba Hons in Criminology with full As in all my essays & my final dissertation & I'm currently a senior Criminology Academic researcher so i have been where you are & can guide you through all the basics
